RE: SOTA PLANNING
As you know, we have been planning to hold another joint ANE/E&E
state-of-the art (SOTA) Training Course and PHN Officers' Meeting
in the fall. We are hoping to get approval in the Bureau to go ahead
with the plans for this meeting, so we are sending this questionnaire.
The involvement of all of you in the planning process is essential
to its success. We would like to solicit your input, and that of
other PHN staff from your Mission, in the design of the SOTA.
Thank you to those of you who responded to the preliminary survey
conducted by Rebecca Rohrer in January. We have used your input
to develop this more detailed survey.
As in the past, the event will last one week and there will be
two parts: a PHN officers' meeting and a series of state-of-the-art
technical training sessions. We will coordinate the SOTA design
process from Washington, however, you are urged to provide input
now and at any stage of the planning process.

questionnaire has five parts:

The Regional Bureaus and the PHN Center want to increase
their support by developing a long distance learning capability.
As you know, we have developed a web site for the LAC-SOTA.
Today, many of those who attended this activity, together
with those who were unable to travel to Miami and several
among you are visiting this site to download the presentations.
For your SOTA we are looking at expanding the information
technology capacity. Are you interested in having your Mission
participate in the first wave of videoconferencing of SOTA
events? A minimum of effort will be required from your side.
Please
consult with your Mission PHN colleagues and give ONE answer
by PHN OFFICE with an X in the box:
YES NO
Will
you need access to e-mail at the SOTA site?
YES
NO
We will follow up with preparation updates through e-mail
and later through the website.
